Stay Frosty and Alert – Robots Root 16 July 2018

Zombieland 2 is finally happening, with the whole cast returning, and I’m stoked. In an era of unnecessary sequels, this is one I’m actually excited about. MIGHT have something to do with Emma Stone, admittedly.

:::

Meanwhile, in space:

  • Wait, WHUT. A new Robocop is coming… but not a follow-up to the film from a few years ago… but as a sequel or connected film to the original Robocop. I *think* they plan on bypassing Robocop 2 as well. Look, I don’t care, just imagine: Neil Blomkamp doing the patented cavalcade of failing ED-209 designs malfunctioning?! I’m down with that sort of business.
  • Shazam doesn’t look bad at all, visually. The muscles look 3% less plastic, and Zachary Levi’s whimsy is definitely showing here. The choice of this as the first official photo is deliberate, and it reads strongly of the ‘Big’ reference, which I think is a good direction to diversify from other supers films, particularly the DCEU’s current slate.
  • Y the Last Man has been cast, and while I haven’t read the series, I’ve followed the production of this for years now, and I think it sounds like an interesting story. Good casting thus far.
  • I’m only interested if there is curb mounting.
  • I’ve talked about this a lot over the last few months with mainstream folks, but I just can’t get over how tickled I am that 3 years ago, Kristin Wiig (and everyone else) would never have imagined she would be the star villain in a major Wonder Woman film with female leadership. SO cool.

  • Now, I haven’t seen the latest film, but I’m into the development of Glass. The early images are rad… supers therapy!
  • The only thing of interest here is that its the new best manip of Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam.
  • More on the Joaquin Phoenix Joker situation. I mean, the takeaway here is the reminder that Phoenix goes after weird and interesting projects, seems interested in this one, and of course, side-eye at Marvel over the Dr Strange project. We were just talking about this on the podcast last night, but I forgot about his aborted Strange…
  • Joss Whedon is not without his controversy these days, over his infidelity and weird heeby-jeebs about his female characters and how he treats the actresses who play them… however I will say the concept of Victotorian-era supers femmes as an HBO project sounds GREAT!
  • Cate Shortland has beat out apparently 70+ other directors to helm the Black Widow film. I like that it’s a female director with some unique vision in the indie scene, and I like that the project is moving forward, even as the rumored script moves backwards (which is also good to me)…
  • YUSSS William Gibson’s Aliens 3 script has been adapted to comics form, and I cannot wait. It was D O P E and sad that they never went that direction. I saw a treatment years and years ago, and it featured themes we take for granted in SF today, very much like something out of Expanse: dueling governments, space station panic, etc.
  • Titan Comics has apparently been granted a license to tell in-canon stories set in the Blade Runner 2049 universe. I’m not familiar with them, or their pedigree, and no samples have yet been made available, but I hear there’s a big convention this weekend, so…

Thats all for now. STAY FROSTY I says.

Alfred Has the Moves – Robots Root 9 July 2018

Look, I’ve watched this about 33 times and it’s not old yet. It’s amazing. AMAZING.

Meanwhile, for science:

Legend of the White Tail Deer Hunter trailer

The Captain trailer

Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 merch sheets

and more (with jacket)

Doomed Mos Eisley movie

More grim and gritty Robin

How Infinity War should have ended.

Why a Baby Driver sequel?

Who is Captain America’s costume designer?

Tom Hardy as the next Bond?

Early concept art for War Machine and Black Widow

Here’s a Call of Cthulu game review. If you read it, you’ll start smelling colors, so beware!

MIA’s Paper Planes supercut with MUSKETS instead of gunfire. It’s a nearly 13 minute video, so high concept and pretty great. You don’t have to watch it. Just enjoy that it exists. Two minutes in and it wasn’t even done with the first volley in the main refrain, because the musket rate of fire is like 30s. The video is intercut with some Austrian 18th century recreationist group on a parapet somewhere. Hilarious. I appreciate.

Anime style fanarts of popular 80s action/SF movies activated!

7,000 degrees Kelvin. ha! Also I love both of those, though i’ve never tried them together…

Merpeople Attackeds! WOCHOWT, guy from Masterpiece Theater’s Victoria~

I just can’t wrap my head around the idea that there hasn’t been a live-action Gundam yet. Seems the technology is ready.

Thats all for now! Back to melting alive while your eyeballs implode!

Mount The Curb – Robots Root 9 May 2018

This is what the internet is for. STOP LYING, BATMAN.

Meanwhile.

  • I cant make heads or tails of what’s going on with TJ Miller’s implosion, but he won’t be in Deadpool 3, apparently. I do miss his energy in Silicon Valley, though. Not talking about behind the scenes value, just the finished products…
  • I’d be down with an all female Knights of Ren. This is like the rumored post-Avengers all-female supers team-up. You don’t even have to market it that overtly. Just DO it. Such as with Annihilation.
  • Let me just day, for the 333th time: I want a Bucky Barnes Cap. I mean, i NEEDS it. It was great in the comics.
  • So here’s the magical photo full of unicorn sparkles that apparently convinced Snyder to cast Cavill as Superman. And it’s… yeah… well, maybe I’m biased by how bulked he was later, but this isn’t thrilling.
  • I didn’t watch this AD S05 trailer, as I’m just going to dive right in and watch the show directly… but here you go.
  • The amount of misdirection in the Avengers: Infinity War trailers was peak. It does beg the question of how are they going to market the 4th Avengers movie… I’m of the mind they have all the actors do promo and press anyway, because come on… just don’t tell us HOW they come back. It’s like that hot mess of Superman/no Superman in the JL ads.
  • Super into what I’m seeing of Luke Cage S02. TOO much charisma. “They have to know we tried.”
  • As if the Infinity War situation couldn’t get more brutal.
  • Black Widow has gone through some hyperbolic number of director interviews, according to the supernet, so it must be true. More important subtext is the concept that they are looking for the right voice, not JUST an indie, or female, or controversial, voice. Hopefully, though, all those things in the end.
  • Sherlock Holmes 3 is coming, and I’m delighted.
  • It will be interesting to see how the original Wasp suit looks in motion. That helmet and the coat design were always something that barely made sense even in the comics.
  • Good to hear that Artemis actually has some old-school bite to it. The trailers were cut so as to look like every other post-John Wick project. Neat to hear it’s more 80s action movie…
  • Beautiful Last Starfighter art…
  • GUISE: MUTATIONS! ALIENS! DEATH FROM DUST! I mean, not like we ever went to the moon, but still.

OK, go to itunes now and check out or latest podcast which was released yesterday: Black Panther, Jumanji, insouciance…

Kellys Got My Number – Robots Root 16 January 2018

Look, I haven’t seen ANY of the Ash vs. Evil Dead series, but this photo of a character called Kelly, played by Dana DeLorenzo, sold me.

Meanwhile, some Robot’s Root… as we prepare to prepare for Heroes and Villains Fanfest / Walker Stalker Con…

  • Surprising precisely no one, Krypton looks like garbage.
  • More Altered Carbon, this time a full trailer. I did not expect the man out of time situation.
  • Another day, another Director defection from Gambit. This, just as Fox released the schedule for the upcoming supers films in active development. It’s still pretty strange that Fox is putting Deadpool 2 within two weeks of Han Solo. Even if the negotiations for final contract on the merger/sale are going to take years, you’d think they’d already be moving these projects a bit farther apart…
  • Natalie Portman just hopped onto Pale Blue Dot, replacing Reese Witherspoon who remains producer. I love ‘affected-astronaut’ stories. They sort of remind me of the ‘haunted sailor’ thing from the 1700s-1800s…
  • Duncan Jones’ Mute hits Netflix next month, along with Altered Carbon. I’m never leaving the house. Except for when I leave the house.
  • It’s early yet, so I’ll be convinced when it’s officially greenlit, but the Black Widow film has been assigned a screenwriter, which is 100% more than they’ve done on this project so far. And, while I would prefer an espionage film similar in tone to Winter Soldier, it sounds like it might be a Lady Liberators situation.
  • I watched the entire thing with Maisie Williams on the show, and it was delightful.
  • They Were Never Here looks AAAAAMAZING
  • I missed the window on this, but be advised:
  • A Shane Black Avengers (60s version?) YES PLEASE.
  • More optimistic talk about the Deadwood film… which I’ll totally accept as fact at this point, because I NEED it.
  • I sold a few prints of Superman: Red Son this weekend, probably a little bit driven by this news
  • Ridley Scott’s The Terror series on AMC feels tailor-made for me. 1800s arctic naval suspense thriller with monster stalkery? YES.
  • These are amazing: Desktop dumpsters, sized for magazines and thereabouts. Ready for your graffiti skills. Or skillz, if you are young (or too old)… and while we’re at it, I also need a Vestaboard, THANKS.

We’re recovering from Heroes and Villains Fanfest/ Walker Stalker Con, but more to follow, including a show roundup…

The Sun is Getting Low in the Sky Big Guy HEY WAIT – Robots Root 10 Jan 2018

Robot’s Root for 10 January 2018 – a roundup of stuff and things that may or may not be happening…

  • Adding Matt the Radar Tech into SW: Battlefront II is the best anything ever for today. I’m sold.
  • Apparently, if you want to avoid some legal difficulty, owning firearms with the Punisher logo on them is a bad idea. Especially pink ones… I guess. What about swords? What are the rules on Punisher logos?
  • Black Lightning isn’t a character I’m overly familiar with, but the fact that the live action show has been launched is a good thing, I think. Now, Thunder, his daughter, has a design element I really appreciate: a TRDL design style high collar! Ha! Stoked.
  • More trailer action for the new Black Widow film, Red Sparrow… WAIT. The poster, up top, I quite like, with the focus on the eye.
  • DeWanda Wise has joined the stellar cast of Captain Marvel. No word on the character, though wouldn’t it be interesting if there’s a Binary component to this script? Anyway, she’s rad as hell, so that’s a thing.
  • How is it that the Workaholics guys can just make whatever film they want at this point? It’s like a tighter band version of the Rogen gang.
  • Listen, I had high hopes for Robin Hood… but it’s starting to give me a Ladyhawke vibe. I mean, I had low hopes. But now I have lower hopes.
  • EVERYTHING about this film.
  • Gifted, which I have not started, has been granted a second season… and has lost the Singer factor, obviously. As has Legion.
  • Ever wanted to play a Bugbear? Now you can.
  • Love Game of Thrones and frostbite? GOOD NEWS.
  • Runaways has been renewed for S02 on Hulu, despite not having finished S01. I feel like it fell apart towards the back half, but it’s still serviceable. Not that this can be said for that abysmal looking Inhumans series. Guh.
  • Here’s a great interview with Mike Mignola on an array of subjects.
  • Collider claims Tim Miller is developing a Kitty Pryde film. I’m OK with it. Supposedly Drew Goddard’s X-Force film is scheduled to begin production soon as well.
  • Han Solo mayyyyyyy have just gone back in for 3 more weeks of reshoots… pretty late in the game. Ron Howard knows what he’s doing, so no panic. Other than the general anxiety about this film existing in the first place, I guess…
  • This one took me by surprise: Derrickson of Doctor Strange may be cooking a live-action adaptation of one of my favorite cyberpunk books of the 80s, Effinger’s ‘When Gravity Fails’, which is set in a futureshock Middle East. INTERESTING.
  • who doesn’t love fake amusement parks?
  • Mantic is preparing a Hellboy tabletop game! Stay tuned for Deeplydapper’s slavish review of said game in a year…
  • Finally, The Tick is returning, meaning I need to catch up in a hurry…

That’s it for today! Kris and I are both smashing atoms to get ready for Heroes and Villains Fanfest/ Walker Stalker Con this weekend in Portland. Come see us at tables 201-202 if you attend!

Ive Been Drinking With Skeletons – Robots Root 18 Sept 2017

As far as I’m concerned, the best news of last week was the reveal of two pics of David Harbour as Hellboy. Other than some initial concerns about their approach to the Right Hand of Doom, he looks 100% minimum awesome and I have much stoke. Also, here’s the first photo they released, in color and with more wet metal look for the Hand. The above shot was the second, submitted by Harbour himself.

Before we dive in, a note about con photos and cosplay radness: we are posting con photos from San Francisco Comic Con and Rose City Comic Con on our Instagram account for Robot-Kraken: @robotkraken_redtentacle so take a peek to see some of the awesome stuff we saw at the shows…

OK, on to Robot’s Root:

  • Batman Type Stuff!
    • Aronofsky compares the rumors of the Joker film to his abandoned Batman Year One. I’m not down with some of the stuff he was cooking up, though I LOVES ME SOME YEAR ONE… but hey, a Lincoln Continental with two bus engines strapped to it sounds amazing. AMAZING.
    • I really enjoyed Fincher’s The Game back in the day, not merely because of it’s epic level of fantasy-stitching-of-SF-neighborhoods-together… apparently that story was the inspiration for Affleck’s now aborted Batman script. I can imagine a very interesting film coming out of that.
    • Lastly, Aronofsky intended to cast Joaquin Phoenix as Batman. Could have worked.
  • Blade Runner 2049 Type Stuff!
    • Witness these quotes, about Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling, with punching and scotch and blunt honesty, that cracked me up immensely. I mean, you can’t witness the quoted material, but you can witness the quote on paper. I’m sticking with it.
    • Here’s the second (and less interesting) short prequel film for Blade Runner 2049, set in 2048, and directed by Jake Scott. Dave Bautista Bautistaing about
  • Star Trek Type Stuff!
    • Interesting article here on how the Discovery series, at least from production and marketing components, seems unable to decide what its audience is supposed to be.
    • Now director Jonathan Frakes has slipped that Discovery will be exploring the famous ‘Mirror Universe’ thing. I wonder if that’s how they will bridge the apparent disconnect between timelines, aesthetics, and characters.
    • Quentin Tarantino posits that good ST film approaches would involve paring down to focus on a few characters instead of the ensemble each time, expand on good TV episodes and do film adaptations of them, and embrace time travel. I mean, yeah I guess, but that was surprising ranting coming from a filmmaker who understands how things work. The ensemble nature of those films, while it is certainly true is less enjoyable as a narrative than more intimate character stories, is easier to pull off in episodic TV than in film, and when they DO focus on a few members of a beloved larger cast, the backlash can be swift.
  • Robotech Type Stuff!
    • If you liked IT and you like Robotech, well you’re in luck: Andy and Barbara Muschietti are tapped to do the adaptation, after they wrap IT 2.
    • Wonder Woman writer Jason Fuchs is tapped as the writer for the project, as well. I wonder if they’ll change the eponymous ‘U.N. SPACY’ which always was a dumb fiddling with english in the Macross material. That said, I adore it.
  • Zach Snyder released a teaser short for a small film he apparently put together while being home after exiting JL. I quite like the look of it. Of course, the look of things was never the problem with Snyder’s projects. I’ll give it a shot, though! Snow Steam Iron… he’s maybe going back to some of the imagery that made Suckerpunch initially so inviting, but with more of an emphasis on burning man friendly steampunk stuffs.
  • Semi-related, Snyder isn’t going to be doing any press for JL, which is interesting, adding to the feeling that maybe he pulled back from the project for more than just his family strife. I wonder. The reason I bring it up, though, is actually to enjoy the photo in the article, here, which I’ve seen a million times, and every single time I see it as Batman shooting some sort of heavy artillery weapon, two handed. HA. That would be controversial.
  • Witness test footage for the aborted War of the Worlds project from Ray Harryhausen. Pretty impressive for the time, as you would expect.
  • PS regarding Hellboy, I know what I’m doing January 11, 2019
  • Adam Strange has been added to the upcoming Krypton TV series. I’m still uninterested but I think it’s a good move. The central conceit to these sorts of prequel expansions is that we need to be invested in the characters, despite knowing how it ends. With Rogue One, they were successful in making us care about characters we knew were going to bite it, which is hard. Here, I saw very little enthusiasm on the interwebs about studying the world of Krypton with Supes’ granddad as the central POV. The whole planet’s going to blow up, etc anyway. And the Snyderverse version was so glum. Anyway, adding a time traveling human space adventurer might give it a bit of pop. Also, unless the Green Lantern thing manifests out of JL, he would be the first human space type in the DCEU.
  • Red Sparrow is being described as the Black Widow movie Marvel forgot to make. I think it will be much more about sex, manipulation, and murder, and less about fighting proficiency. At least thats how it sounded in pre-production. Still, I love how it looks. The ballet-as-assassin-training thing is certainly peak Widow.
  • An interest concept: AD&D where players, or rather their characters, have to cook and eat their kills. Very, very specific interest there.
  • I love the NAME of Club 33, though I have no interest in going to one. I’m not that kind of wealthy adult Disney person.
  • I’m continually fascinated by the deep economic culture of MMPRPGs or whatever they’re called. Check out this story about a huge double cross with significant real world economic impact, in the EVE community.
  • Similarly, Blizzard is saying that policing the toxic behavior of players in Overwatch is slowing game development. So that’s a thing.
  • I REALLY like the logotype for Alicia Vikander’s Lara Croft film. That arrow motif  cutting the lettering in half feels very evocative of both adventure and weird tropical death trappery.

I hope you enjoyed that data dump!

I Need My Fuchikoma – 13 Feb 2017

Image

This all looks gangbusters to me, and I’m standing behind my optimism on this project. However, I choose to believe we haven’t seem my beloved FUCHIKOMAs yet because they are keeping something to surprise us in the theatre, not that they aren’t appearing. Because I need them. I NEED THEM. Here’s the new trailer, Kuze and all: link!
Also, note that’s a papercraft up there. You can find it on the supernets. If you are into that sort of thing. With a five year old boy in the house, I am no longer.

Meanwhile:

– This Logan viral is pretty sobering… in one meaning of the term, not the other. link!

– There are now two people on record approving of Jesse Eisenberg’s Luthor: me, and Lawrence Fishburne. And before you say anything, his crack habit was 30 years ago. link!

– The New Mutants film seems to be slinking along in development. More social media notes seemingly to strengthen the rumor that GoT’s Maisie Williams is on board as Wolfsbane… link!

– I don’t know if these are pre-wig Klingons or a new design, but I like it the best of anything we’ve seen before. That external spiny row up the neck and skull is rad. I love the armor too. I still think it’s weird that every species in Star Trek* use such homogeneity in uniform and dress, though. link! *Or NOT STAR TREK, according to Lung

– Everyone except some room of stuffy Disney executives is certain a Black Widow film needs to happen. Come ON u guise. Srsly. link!

Image
– Ahsoka… I believe Rosario Dawson said she would love to be in SW, or someone made that assertion, or who knows… but it took Bosslogic approximately 0.0003s to get started on a manip. ENDORSED! link!

– Katie Sackhoff is on board for Unknown Origin, a Mars mission disaster recovery story where she is working with a field team of AIs… WHAT COULD GO WRONG… but here you go. Nice pic, too. link!

– Vincent D’Onofrio claims Kingpin won’t be in Defender, Punishers, anything. Depends on if you BELIEVE him, but still. link!

– The Runaways parents have been cast, the only known quantity being Buffy/ANgel alum James Marsters. link!

– Thandie Newton may have joined Han Solo… playing…. Sana Starros? I hope not. Hate that character and plotline thoroughly. Actually, at last blush, I thought Emilia Clarke was rumored to play some variant of that character (cue the protests) but who knows. link!

– The Batman movie rumors keeping flying around like crazed, well, bats, in a well-illuminated space, bashing into each other and howling. First Affleck dropped out of directing (good call) and then there was a supposed page one rewrite happening, sort of corroborated by Affleck’s persistent quotes about script issues being the one reason he would leave) but Terrios wrote the latest draft, who Affleck himself brought on board, and who not only did Argo with him, but did some sort of something on the last few DC movies. Now the new rumor is that WB execs are happy with the script, and that Cloverfield/Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves is in the director’s chair. All in like 5 days of rumor flinging and bat injuring. link!

– My man Denis Villaneuve continues to insist he is relying on practical effects for Blade Runner 2049. Keep saying that and we’ll let you live, man. link!

– Finally, I say this only with the caveat that I don’t believe we need a Scarface remake AT ALL… but I read this morning that the Coen Brothers tweaked the script, which makes it 100% more likely to be bearable. Also, I like Diego Luna. But still. Why. link!

multiPost 002 – 9 Jan 2017

Image

Well, this concept art proves that Ryan Gosling as Doctor Strange would have been the wrong choice. Sometimes I felt like Benedict Cumberbatch felt a little too egotistically knowing as Stephen Strange, and not passive enough (meaning that my read of the character from the comics has always been that he has one foot in the other dimensions, one here, and was very formal and polite in his responses to people; the movie version is RDJR lite) but as much as I love watching Gosling, and I DO, the brows don’t have it. I WOULD love him as another character though.
link!

Meanwhile:

– Eagle-eyed fans believe that this shot from Jyn Erso’s flashbacks suggest she was in Padme’s apartment on Coruscant. I think it was just a re-use of a matte painting FFS. In the post Lostian world, not every thing is a thing. link!

– Spider-Man suit upgrades formally detailed here! I hope they don’t go overboard.

– I don’t know what to make of this photo. Cyborg looks like a Michael Bay Transformer cluttered mess, Flash looks bendy, Bats looks massive and WW frail. It’s just a screenshot. link!

– Look! Actress had orange hair once, references old animated property, internets go WILD! link!

– Oddly, there was more rejiggering than usual on DC’s Powerless. It’s now Better Off Ted apparently. link!

– I’m so down with MUTE I can’t even. link!

– Jeremy Renner wants a Black Widow/ Hawkeye film, because of course he does. But we all do. The team ups are what make the Marvel films so great, and these two are a good fit for a spin-off film, thematically. I’d be on board. Also, paychecks! link!

– Behold the plushy Beholder! link!

– I waited a few days on this one, to see if it would be debunked, but nothing yet: Woody Harrelson as Han Solo’s mentor? link!

That’s all for today! As a reminder, the current TRDL Art Jam is The Wolverine [X-23] and the latest podcast for Robot-Kraken, the first for 2017, is now available!

Imagine Black Widow Playsets with No Widow Figures 16 Aug 02

Image
Joss Whedon (sort of) wants to do a Black Widow film. The question is: good or bad idea? Based on the two Avengers films, maybe not good. But given that those both existed in an era of executive interference that by all intents and purposes seems dramatically changed, based on the Russo material, maybe given some room to maneuver, he could produce something interesting. All I want is Widow plus say Hawkeye or one other, in a tight espionage film. Frankly, just more of Winter Soldier, really. Anyway, just hypothetical, but it certainly IS damn time.

The saddest thing… perhaps the only sad thing, other than the tragedy of ‘so were we!’ bro-heartbreak… about Civil War will surely be that they didn’t retain Scarjo/Natasha’s look from Winter Soldier, which was my favorite. Like need a cold shower favorite.

Agent Carter is looking grim for S03. Low ratings, largely due to them delaying it on the schedule for so long, combined with greenlighting the Most Wanted spinoff of SHIELD made it seem like threes a crowd, sounds like. I like the premise of this one.

The story focuses on a group of eccentric international assassins who become fed up with Gunther, the world’s greatest hitman who also happens to be an arrogant show-off, and decide to kill him. Cobie Smulders (The Avengers), Bobby Moynihan (SNL), Paul Brittain (Hotel Transylvania 2), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Randall Park (The Interview), and Ryan Gaul (Identity Thief).

Thinking a lot about a comment I read online the other night, in the comments on an io9 article about SWVIII stuff, where people were going on and on about how Disney should dump the Prequels from continuity… someone pointed out that SW isn’t exclusively for 40 year olds. There are now two generations of kids who grew up with Prequels not only being canon, but being THE THING HAPPENING at the time. And it made me think, there’s a new generation, my kids, maybe, who as they age may be focused on the new Disney films and even look down on the original trilogy (admittedly, warts and all)… though I’ve done my duty in showing them all the films. Anyway, this was a good opinion piece video on nostalgia and hype in the SW world.

The more I see of the [Hot Mess] TMNT 2 trailers, the more I think they will be fun for kids. That’s important.

This is apparently the day where I catch up on trailers, to avoid crushing deadlines.

Lastly, on last week’s Robot-Kraken Podcast, I challenged Deeplydapper to name a comic project that, by changing one member of the creative team, would have turned it from a hot mess into something he’d love. For mine, I chose artist Olivier Coipel to do the Iron Man run from the #170s-#199 or so, leading into #200. This was an incredibly influential period of Iron Man continuity, thanks to Denny O’Neil and co. Stark’s descent into alcoholism, his loss of the company to Stane, Rhodey in the armor, Stark rebuilding his old gray suit… leading up to the final confrontation with Stane, in the classic Silver Centurion vs. Iron Monger battle. The art on those final issues was good, but I never could get down with Luke McDonnel’s work on the majority of the issues in this period. It was influential in leading me to draw so much Iron Man myself (badly)… it’s just my opinion, my preference… anyway, here’s an example of how awesome Coipel’s Iron Man (and Stark) can be. Granted this is fairly contemporary stylistically, with inks, colors, etc to match. But you get the idea. The full scene (from Thor #3 in the original CW days) is below.
